Create ".Img" Disk or Partition Image File

You can create ".img" disk or partition image file by PartitionGuru software. And PartitionGuru can load non-compressed image files such as ".img", ".ima", ".vfd", ".flp". As long as the image file is loaded, you can operate its inner files like a an ordinary partition or disk.

Click the menu "Disk" - "Create .img Image File". PartitionGuru will pop up the following dialogue box:

Select the file path and name, and select the capacity of the image. You can select a capacity from the five build in standard floppy image size: 360K, 720K, 1.2M, 1.44M and 2.88M or specify a capacity yourself. If you set a custom capacity, you can also select the image type next - "Disk Image" or "Partition Image". While loaded by PartitionGuru, the disk image just like a hard disk and it can has partitions. Partition image is like above floppy images, it cannot be partitioned again, you can only format it and operate its files.

By default, the "Build Bootable DOS System" option is set for creating a bootable freeDOS system and DOS version of PartitionGuru in it. The bootable image file can be used directly for booting a virtual machine. And also it can be used for burning bootable CD.

Press the "OK"  button to create the image.

After the image is created, it will be loaded automatically. See the following screenshot. You can operate it just like an ordinary partition.
